AOLpress Help
Menus of the MiniWeb Window
The File menu operates on pages or MiniWebs-opening,
saving, closing, and printing.
The Edit menu lets you copy and paste, search,
and set various MiniWeb behaviors.
The View menu controls the viewing style and options.
The Tools menu has utilities like link and spell
checking and AOLserver functions.
The Browse menu opens the history and the
Hot List.
The Help menu provides documentation, examples,
and more.
File Menu
The File pull-down menu is identical to the File menu in the Page
window, except it also contains the New Java and Print Graph
items.

New

New Page
-
Creates a new, empty page window.

New MiniWeb
-
Creates a new MiniWeb.
-
New FrameSet
-
Creates a new Frameset containing a single frame.
-
New Java
-
Opens a window in which you can type the code for a Java applet.

Open...
-
Displays the Open window that lets you browse (locally or remotely) for files
or specify the URL directly. You may also choose how
to use the file (for example, you can open an HTML page as a Text page
and see the tags).

Open Recent
-
Displays a list of recent pages from windows you have closed during the current
session.

Close
-
Closes the MiniWeb window. Prompts if you have unsaved changes.

Save
-
Saves the current MiniWeb.
-
Save As...
-
Displays the Save As window, to save the Page either locally or
on the Internet. Lets you choose
formats and various options.

Import...
-
Displays the Import window, to import a file as text or HTML into the MiniWeb.

Copy File...
-
Lets you copy a file from anywhere locally or on the network to anywhere
else.
-
Delete...
-
Displays the Delete window, to let you browse through the directory system
and delete URLs even remotely.

Print (or Page) Setup...
-
Lets you choose a printer and its settings.
-
Print...
-
Prints all the pages in the current MiniWeb.
-
Print Graph...
-
Prints the current MiniWeb view to the selected printer.
-
Upgrade AOLpress...
-
Opens a page of information about downloading the latest version
of AOLpress.
-
Exit (or Quit)
-
Exits. Prompts if you have unsaved changes.
Edit Menu
-
Cut
-
Saves the selected Page or other item to the clipboard and then deletes it
from the MiniWeb.

Copy
-
Saves the selected Page or other item to the clipboard.
-
Paste
-
Transfers the contents of the clipboard to the current MiniWeb. You can paste
from a MiniWeb to a Page window which creates a link to that page in the
miniweb, but you can't paste from a Page window to a MiniWeb.

Clear
-
Removes the selected page from the MiniWeb. Sometimes confusing because if
there are still links to that page it is shown in faint gray. It cannot be
removed until all links have been broken.

Copy URL of MiniWeb/Page
-
If nothing is selected, copies the URL of the MiniWeb into the clipboard.
Otherwise it copies the URL of the selected page.

Paste URL
-
Equivalent to Paste.

Find/Replace...
-
Lets you find text in any page in the MiniWeb.

Find Next
-
Finds the next occurrence of the text in any MiniWeb page.

Find Page...
-
Lets you select a page in the MiniWeb by typing its file name.

Set Title...
-
Lets you set a title to be shown in the status bar when you place the mouse
cursor over a file in the MiniWeb..

Set Icon...
-
Lets you change the MiniWeb icon for the currently selected file.

Make Icon
-
Uses the actual image as the MiniWeb icon for the currently selected image.

Set Help...
-
Lets you specify a page that provides help when you double-click on a file
in the MiniWeb.

Set Stationery
-
Sets the currently selected Page as a "stationery" file for this MiniWeb.
When a new page is created, the stationery page is used to initialize it.
View Menu

Clean Up
-
Realigns all items in the view.

Display Control...
-
Lets you hide various types of files in the MiniWeb.
-
Web
-
Displays the MiniWeb as a graphical web.
-
Tree
-
Displays the MiniWeb as a graphical tree.
-
Name
-
Displays the MiniWeb as list sorted by file name.
-
Title
-
Displays the MiniWeb as list sorted by page title.
-
MIME type
-
Displays the MiniWeb as list sorted by type of file.
-
Zoom In
-
Makes the MiniWeb icons larger and shows a smaller area. (Web or Tree view)
-
Zoom Out
-
Makes the icons smaller and shows a larger area. (Web or Tree view)
-
Normal Size
-
Goes back to the default icon size. (Web or Tree view)

List Link To
-
Shows links to other files if checked. (Name, Title, or MIME type view)

List Links From
-
Shows links from other files if checked. (Name, Title, or MIME type view)
Tools
The Tools menu in the MiniWeb window is similar to the
Tools menu in the Page
window. The Tools menu in the MiniWeb window does not contain
the Show HTML and Administer Page items from the Page window,
but it does have the additional Administer MiniWeb
item.

Webize
Directory...
Turns existing directories into MiniWebs.

Check Links...
-
Runs through the links in all the pages in the entire MiniWeb
and checks to make sure the URLs they reference exist.

Spell Check...
-
Runs through the words in all the pages in the entire MiniWeb
and checks them against a customizable dictionary.

Search Server...
-
Opens a page listing all the tables on the server with links for searching
each table. (Not supported unless you have Commercial or Dedicated PrimeHost
service or an AOLserver of your own.)

Administer Server
-
Opens a page with links to the server administration functions. (Not supported
unless you have Commercial or Dedicated PrimeHost service or an AOLserver
of your own.)

Administer
MiniWeb
-
Permissions...
-
Brings up an HTML page with a form that allows you to control who can access
the current page on the current server. You will probably be prompted for
a username and password before being allowed to do this. (Not supported unless
you have Commercial or Dedicated PrimeHost service or an AOLserver of your
own.)

Preferences
-
Lets you set preferences for a variety of behaviors, such as:

General
-
Allows you to control various general AOLpress behaviors.
-
Network
-
Insert information about your network or firewall for improved performance.
-
Fonts
-
Allows you to specify the font type and size AOLpress uses to display pages
when browsing.
-
Extensions/MIME...
-
This associates a MIME type to a filename extension. These only refer to
files read locally from the disk.

MIME / Viewer...
-
If AOLpress does not know how to display a file type, it will look through
this list, which associates MIME types to programs. If it finds an appropriate
entry, it will run that program to display the file.

Save
As Filters...
-
You can specify a program to translate from HTML into some other format.
These translation types will be displayed along with the default ones (HTML,
TEXT) in the Save As window. (Supported on UNIX
only).

MiniWeb Icons...
-
You can associate an icon with a MIME type. The icon will be displayed in
the MiniWeb to indicate the file type.

Sites...
-
The Save command provides a list of servers to publish to. You can customize
the list here.

Animation
-
Choose an animation to play during page download.
-
Configure Toolbar
-
Define which icons/commands should be available in the page window toolbar.
Browse Menu
The Browse menu in the MiniWeb window is a subset of the
Browse menu in the Page window. It has
only the Stop, Global History, and
Hot List menu items.
Window
The Window menu in the MiniWeb window is identical to the
Window menu in the Page window.
Help
The Help menu in the MiniWeb window is identical to the
Help menu in the Page window.
