Very fine clothing can be had for little cash at second hand stores.
Shoes: Cut the sole and, optionally the top, from a tire. Be sure to include tabs out from the sides to attache the straps for sandals or to tie together with matching tabs on the top. Cut with chisle or bandsaw. Very wide truck tires work best since you can avoid the extra thickness at the edge of the tread. Thin trailer tires might allow you to use that as part of the sole.
