Does your browser give out your e-mail address? Very old browsers will send out your e-mail address in response to a "HTTP_FROM" request. This is rare today.

Many browsers also provide e-mail information as a password for File Transfer Protocol or FTP. In the past it was common for FTP sites to allow anonymous log-on and asked for the user's e-mail address as a password. Some browsers (3.0 or before) provide the e-mail address as the password for anonymous log-on. The line of stars image near the top of the page is loaded via FTP instead of HTTP. The username and password supplied by the browser is collected in the log files. This was common trick used by junk mailers to collect addresses in the past. About 10% of users have their e-mail addresses captured this way.
